Competition Rules
Grading Games may happen on the first night of the competition! Players are asked to bring their own/school rackets and water (make sure they your rackets are named). We will have some Manawatu Badminton rackets available for players to use.  We supply all match shuttles for the competition and if a new one is required please ask at the check-in desk.

All players should familiarize themselves with the rules of singles and doubles & the lines of a badminton court as all teams must score their own matches (we provide a match sheet with counting table and rules will be available at the desk for all helpers).

All players will play 1 singles game and 1 doubles game per tie with 2 ties per day. Games are to 21 only (no extended scoring).

Every week the teams must check-in at the Registration desk. If a team does not turn up they will default their game and the team that has turned up will get all the points.  If a team turns up with only 1 player, we will try to source a substitute on the day but that team may still default the game.  All teams can use substitutes throughout the competition except for Finals Day – players must have taken part in the competition prior to finals day. Please ensure to organize your substitute prior to the match days and always remind them closer to the day.  Throughout the competition we will be keeping an eye on the progress of the teams and their results. We will monitor the results and make a decision half-way through the competition as to whether promotion/relegation is required in the divisions. Teams should try to have a sub for any cover needed.

There is no cap on the number of teams a school can enter, but we reserve the right to cap the number of teams if we get a big flood of entries.
