Badminton is a fun and exciting sport and is enjoyed by millions around the world from beginners to Olympic players! Badminton is the fastest racquet sport in the world with the fastest smash ever recorded being timed at 421 kmh (262 mph) by Malaysian player Tan Boon Heong at the 2009 Japan Open. We are passionate about our sport and want to give everyone the opportunity to take-part! Here in the Manawatu we have a thriving and enthusiastic badminton community that caters for all abilities, ages and ethnicities. We have junior clubs located in Palmerston North and every year we host the largest participation badminton tournament in Australasia – the Badminton New Zealand North Island Age Group Championships.
